Dhanam : Ilayaraja Swamigal

It’s been a bliss listening to the songs of the movie Dhanam. The movie is about a deva dhasi where Sangeetha plays the lead role. The theme of the movie has definitely inspired IR and I can see that in the songs. How do I describe the songs in two words - vintage Raaja.

The trailer of the movie says "Music : Ilayaraja Swamigal" and I agree. He is indeed a saint - a music saint (Isai gyani) and a philosopher. The rhythm pattern and interlude in some of the songs tells me that Raaja is well and truly back.

The song "Kannnanukku enna vendum" is mind blowing, albeit he could have used a better singer to render it. I would have preferred Mahathi/Chinmayi/Sunitha/Chithra/Bombay Jayshree/Shreya Goshwal to sing this song. Bhavaratharani is a poor choice for such a wonderful composition, but you never know she might end up with a national award for this as well. I think it’s based on ragam NataBairavi and the swara korvai @ the end is something I keep hearing again and again. Sriram Parthasarathy is the right choice to render these type of songs , given the strong carnatic base the guy has.

All in all IR swamigal :-) rocks and I am sure the songs in this movie is gonna top the rankings for a long time.

Couldn't wait for the release of this movie. I am sure the BGM of the movie will be equally good or even better.

Enjoy the songs by clicking the link below :-)

Kuselan

The name of the movie would be very apt for any Rajini movie. Guess why?

Plea to God

Clothes are squeezed to remove the dirt. Problems we face in life is a process of god to cleanse our soul. God, please don't squeeze this cloth too much and tear it.

Scary Thought

Water in the pond was so clean that one can see sun, moon and stars through it. One guy threw a stone into it and it lost bit of its purity. The second guy threw another stone into it, and it became even more impure. Now everyone started throwing sand, stone and wood into it. Now the water has become so impure that it lost its purpose – which is to serve pure water.

My soul was so clean when I was born. My mum threw the first stone in the form of love and then the relatives threw the next one in the form of bondage. My teachers threw another in the form of education. As the days went on, I had to face a lot of dirt in various forms. Now this soul has become so impure and it has totally lost its purpose. At least the water in the pond can be cleansed, but when I think about this soul and its purpose, it is scary.

Nuclear Deal

Do highly qualified men become good leaders? I would say no and Mr.Manmohan Singh is the reason behind my judgment. I think he has been a puppet for the past 4 years and he can be compared to Mr.0.Panneerselvam who ruled TN when JJ was on her exile.

Maybe this nuclear deal was the last resort to gain back some of his lost credibility and he did well on that front. But I don’t think he can get away by this single act.

To me both the Congress and BJP are hypocritical. The party which sent President APJ out of the office is now defending the deal by quoting APJ.

The BJP talks about hinduthva and it teaming up with left in opposing the deal can be termed as a joke. The Hindu religion (read as Advaita) is anti-communist and I don’t understand how the BJP didn’t know this. The BJP also went gaga over everything that APJ did and there lies its hypocrisy.

But I am happy that Government won the trust vote on two fronts.

a) The nuclear deal will help the US

b) The BJP is ruling Karnataka and so I don’t want them in the center. It will affect TN in Cauvery and Hokkanekkal issue in a huge way.
